Ryan Reaves had a block buster game against the Predators.  This is his third game with the Penguins.  It seemed that Ryan Reaves was chasing the elusive “Gordie Howe Hat Trick.”  Instead he got a goal and two fights.  Ryan Reaves was short the assist.  The first fight was with Austin Watson.  The second more notable fight was with Cody McLeod.  This fight was a battle of two heavy weights.  Cody McLeod had 19 fighting majors last season, for the most in the league in fact.

Ian Cole took a massive slap shot to the face in the game against the Predators.  He went down the run way and did not return.  On the replay you could see teeth flying.  This was painful on every level.   Coach Mike Sullivan on Ian Cole’s status “out for the Washington game.”   Chad Ruhwedel will be in the line up against the Washington Capitals.

Coach Mike Sullivan confirms that Patric Hornqvist is a “game time decision” against the Washington Capitals.  If available he will most likely be Greg McKegg’s right wing.

In case you haven’t heard,  Alex Ovechkin is on fire.  He has had a amazing 7 goals in the first two games of the season.  To their credit, the Tampa Bay Lightning kept Alex Ovechkin off the score sheet in an epic come from behind win in the third game of the season for the Capitals.  With a hot Alex Ovechkin, I would expect a highly entertaining game on Wednesday.  Thing are always interesting when the Penguins play the Capitals.  One of the most notable games in playoff history was on May 4th 2009.  The Capitals won with a score of 4 to 3.  Both Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin had hat tricks in the game.  Currently Alex Ovechkin has an amazing 20 career hat tricks. Evgeni Malkin has 11, and Sidney Crosby has 10.

Tom Wilson had two different pre-season incidents. Both of these “hockey plays” got the attention of Player Safety .  Both of these got him suspensions.  The first was for 2 games.  The second was for 4 games.  The second one makes him a repeat offender.  So expect harsher penalties in the future.  So he will be out for Wednesdays game.  Who will Ryan Reaves have to fight?
