The Penguins announce a change in an off-ice position as Steve Mears takes over for Paul Steigerwald in the broadcast booth.

Mears, a native of Murraysville, PA worked on the Penguins radio network from 2009-2013 before taking a job with the NHL network. He was also the play-by-play voice of the New York Islanders from 2006 to 2009.

Steigerwald will take on a front office role in the team’s communications and marketing departments.

Today’s big story: Phil Kessel’s late goal in the third period propels the Penguins to a win over the Senators and evens up the series 1-1. Wednesday the venue shifts to Ottawa, where the Senators are 4-2 on the playoffs.
