PHN: Big Site News–‘Home Run’ Hire!

Published

on

It’s been a big week for Pittsburgh Hockey Now. The TV show aired and doubled its initial ratings. Dan Kingerski received his professional hockey writers card. And now…we’re able to announce a new addition to the family: John Perrotto!

John isn’t just a baseball guy. In fact, we first met John in the press box at a Penguins game. John will attend some Penguins practices, write post games, and interesting features which go beyond stats or analysis.

PHN is built on knowledgeable professionals who don’t always toe the line. We like it that way. We also like old school professional reporters who get good stories. And John is DEFINITELY that.

We’re sure John will be back, and writing about MLB before April. He’s one of the One-Percenters in that world. But, in the meantime, we’re happy to roll out the red carpet for one of the stalwarts of Pittsburgh journalism!

But Wait, There’s More!

PHN is also expanding its content. We want more thought, more diversity. We will be auditioning new bloggers, podcasters, and reporters. More, More, More!

Stefan Rice has been getting his feet wet with us, doing the Backchecking the Penguins pieces each day for the last few weeks. It’s time to let him fly. Stefan’s blog, Hockey Agenda, is a true fan blog; no pretense or contrived content, just whatever is in his hockey-loving heart.

Stefan will be providing a weekly column, “Hockey Uncovered” for your approval. And it will come from the fan perspective, about less publicized hockey stories. Check him out on Twitter, too. Although, we prefer more professional Twitter handles… *AHEM, Budmoonshine!

Sunday will also be the second episode of It’s a Hockey Night Podcast with Mike and Brenton.

And, we’ve also made a couple other offers to folks whose name you know… Pittsburgh is an unstable market right now, but we’re charging ahead.

More content! We will welcome feedback on all of our content, especially our new friends. Ultimately, it’s about giving you more hockey content from more angles. So, you will be the judge if it’s working, or not. And we’d like to know. Beginning next week, check our homepage throughout the day. We’ll have new content appearing all day!
