Tom Wilson suspension, NHL trade, Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins nemesis and now the Boston Bruins enemy Tom Wilson was suspended following from trucking Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo on Saturday. The unpenalized hit set social media and our colleagues in Boston ablaze, too. The Buffalo Sabres are putting everyone on the NHL trade block, the Pittsburgh Penguins had their most important win of the season, and you have to see the goal by Mathew Barzal.

And, you probably need to see the funeral procession of Walter Gretzky. We should all earn such honors.

Boston Hockey Now: The NHL Department of Player Safety dished the second-longest boarding suspension in history to Tom Wilson for his “violent” hit on Brandon Carlo

Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron confronted Tom Wilson on the ice.

To the Pittsburgh Penguins…

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Evgeni Malkin’s filthy goal against Philadelphia could be the spark of Malkin’s resurgence.

PHN+: Get the report card with a tactical breakdown and Penguins player grades.

To the NHL trade talk…

Sportsnet (video): According to Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada, the Buffalo Sabres are “wide open” for business, and everyone is on the NHL trade block.

TSN (video): Coverage of Walter Gretzky’s funeral. Hockey players and youth players lined the street in his small Ontario town of Brantford and gave a stick tap to the funeral procession. Amazing.

When the border opens, Brantford is only about 4.5 hours away from Pittsburgh. The Gretzky winery is a bit closer to Niagara. And a chill place to hang out.

NYI Hockey Now: You’ve got to see this goal. If you thought Malkin’s goal was pretty. Watch Barzal tie the game with a between the legs breakaway tally.

Another highlight from Saturday: James Neal and Mathew Tkachuk threw punches in a pretty good scrap.

National Hockey Now

Philly: A full GIF rewind of the Pittsburgh Penguins-Philadelphia Flyers tilt, including the Penguins highlight goals.

The Philly fanbase sure saw a penalty on Mike Matheson when Farabee when into the boards. Maybe hooking, but it didn’t contribute to Farabee’s fall.

Vegas: A quick synopsis of Marc-Andre Fleury and Vegas Golden Knights’ 4-0 shutout of the San Jose Sharks.

Florida: Noel Acciari had the hat trick, and Florida Beat Nashville, 6-2. I sure hope the fans in Florida appreciate this team is much better than they thought.
