For those who missed Tuesday’s game or didn’t see enough of defenseman Mark Friedman to form an opinion, trust this: Pittsburgh Penguins fans are going to like this guy.

Sure, he came from the archrival Philadelphia Flyers – the Penguins claimed the 25-year-old off waivers Feb. 24 – but get a load of how he described playing against his former and original team when he made his Penguins debut Tuesday.

“Obviously it’s the battle of Pennsylvania here. These teams go way back. It’s nice to be on this side of the rivalry as opposed to the other,” Friedman said, comments that could go straight to the heart of Flyers-loathing Penguins fans.

“The guys kept telling me no friends on the ice. That’s definitely how I played. It’s quite funny to give it to some of them.”
