Marchand Trolls Everyone, Including the Penguins

The Florida Panthers are not a homegrown team full of prospects and draft picks who came up through their system. There are a few on the roster who can claim native Panthers status, but not many.
With the Stanley Cup in tow, and hockey fans reveling in the humorous camaraderie between newbie Brad Marchand and his teammates, Marchand flexed for general manager Bill Zito’s ability to find the right players on other teams. And that list includes Evan Rodrigues, formerly of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Apparently, when he’s not verbally jousting with TNT panelist and Spittin’ Chiclets host Paul Bissonnette, Marchand is cleverly devising ways to needle pretty much everyone else as he thanked teams for cutting loose, trading, or not re-signing players who comprised the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Panthers.
Marchand got the Penguins over Evan Rodrigues, whom former general manager Ron Hextall declined to re-sign, despite Rodrigues’s 19-goal season and extraordinary lineup flexibility. Rodrigues did play one season with the Colorado Avalanche before signing with Florida and earning a pair of Stanley Cup rings.
Of course, Marchand is also a castoff. The Boston Bruins traded him at the NHL trade deadline.
