Breaking: Penguins Winger Bunting in Car Accident; Malkin Moves to IR

Pittsburgh Penguins winger Michael Bunting will not play Sunday when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Tampa Bay Lightning at PPG Paints Arena.
According to witnesses and confirmed by coach Mike Sullivan, Bunting was involved in a car accident near the arena Sunday afternoon. Details are not yet known. Sullivan reported that Bunting and everyone else involved was “OK.”
Bunting was particularly effective at creating a physical contest between the Penguins and Ottawa Senators Saturday. Bunting has 25 points (13-12-25) in 43 games this season but has been red-hot over the last month, scoring 18 points in his last 19 games.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now will update the story as more details become available.
Evgeni Malkin/Philip Tomasino
Sunday, the Penguins placed forward Evgeni Malkin on injured reserve. It was a procedural move as Malkin remains out day-to-day, so the team could activate forward Philip Tomasino from IR.
Tomasino, 23, last played on Jan. 3 against the Florida Panthers. He is a game-time decision Sunday.
