CRANBERRY, Twp — The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without winger Bryan Rust for at least a few more days.

The winger was given a maintenance day on Wednesday before missing practice Thursday and being out of the lineup for the final preseason game Friday in which most or all of the NHL regulars will play.

Anthony Beauvillier will take Rust’s right-wing spot beside top-line center Sidney Crosby Friday against the Columbus Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena.

Speaking after practice, coach Mike Sullivan downplayed the potential severity but confirmed Rust is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Last season, Rust had 28 goals and 56 points in 62 games. The 32-year-old winger is in the third year of a six-year contract with a $5.125 million salary cap hit.
