The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without winger Bryan Rust for a while.

Tuesday, coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that Rust was out “week to week” with a lower-body injury.

Rust, 32, who missed the first couple of games this season due to injury awkwardly tangled with Vancouver Canucks winger Nils Hoglander in the second period of the Penguins 4-3 loss on Saturday at Rogers Place. Rust was visibly injured and upset with the contact, refusing to leave the ice until he said a few words to Hoglander.

This season, Rust has one goal and three assists in eight games.

Sullivan elevated Evgeni Malkin to Crosby’s left wing and Rickard Rakell to Crosby’s right wing in practice Monday and for the game Tuesday.

Would imagine this is likely time for Blake Lizotte and not Rutger McGroarty? Then rotate sitting Puustinen, Glass, Bunting or whomever is struggling.
