Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith had a sparkling night, Friday. Probably the best of his career as he stopped 48 of 51 shots in the Penguins 5-3 win over the Boston Bruins.

Among DeSmith’s highlight reel saves was a diving glove save on Bruins scoring pest, Brad Marchand. DeSmith joked about the save, “There was no technique…”

DeSmith also joked about the referee not blowing the whistle after the save. The Penguins 27-year-old goaltender has played a total of 36 NHL games but is engaged in a goaltender competition with established number-one goalie Matt Murray. This season DeSmith has backstopped the Penguins with 22 appearances. He is 10-5-4 with a .923 save percentage and a 2.46 goals against average.
