Penguins center and captain Sidney Crosby joined his teammates for practice Tuesday at PPG Paints Arena, three days after he left a preseason game after taking a shot to his right foot.
There is no official word on Crosby’s status for Thursday’s season opener against Buffalo at home, but his presence in practice would seem to be an indication that that is at least possible, if not probable.
Crosby did not practice Sunday — although he took a very brief spin on the ice before his teammates skated. Coach Mike Sullivan said then that Crosby was day to day, that things seemed “encouraging” and that holding him out of practice was precautionary.
The Penguins did not practice Monday.
Presumably, Crosby will need to get past Tuesday’s practice with no recurring problems. The Penguins have one more practice scheduled, Wednesday, before the opener.
