Pittsburgh Penguins, Danton Heinen

EDMONTON — The Pittsburgh Penguins did not give Danton Heinen a qualifying offerlast July. The winger popped a career-high 18 goals on a $1 million contract and was a threat to get a much larger arbitration award than the Penguins could afford.

After the team chose to keep Kasperi Kapanen, there didn’t seem to be enough room at the inn for both, and Heinen hit the UFA circuit.

Saturday night in Columbus, Heinen scored his sixth point and third goal in five games to begin the 2022-23 season.
