PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin nearly pulled off the comeback for the Penguins with two third period goals. However, the Penguins were unable to climb out of the three-goal deficit and lost to the Calgary Flames, 5-4 at PPG Paints Arena.

Malkin acknowledged a couple of the goals were his fault. Malkin’s increased energy level and goals in the third period buoyed the team and roused the crowd but it was not enough. Both goals were power play tallies.
