Penguins Locker Room: Evgeni Malkin Postgame ‘It was My Mistake’

Published

on

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin nearly pulled off the comeback for the Penguins with two third period goals. However, the Penguins were unable to climb out of the three-goal deficit and lost to the Calgary Flames, 5-4 at PPG Paints Arena.

Malkin acknowledged a couple of the goals were his fault. Malkin’s increased energy level and goals in the third period buoyed¬†the team and roused the crowd but it was not enough. Both goals were power play tallies.

They’re sleepwalking through the season like they couldn’t be bothered. Too much previous success equals no hunger. The window is closed.

I disagree. They’re reshaping their identity. The players on the team are adjusting to a lot. Plus, Malkin has plenty of fire.

Late in the year to be “reshaping their identity.”
Would you suppose they would need to reshape said identity if all was well with this team? No.Sully is a great coach but if this group exits the playoffs early (should they be LUCKY enough to make the playoffs) he’s done this off season and big changes in players will come.
