Expansion! PHN Welcomes Boston Hockey Now

It has been a dream for a while to begin expanding. Pittsburgh Hockey Now has been blessed with continued growth, month after month. We feel like we’ve been able to provide a different and often more in-depth coverage of the Pittsburgh Penguins. And now we’re taking our first step to expanding that coverage.

Welcome, Boston Hockey Now.

The site will be operated locally by Boston media professionals and hockey folks. We’ll check in and offer our assistance, as well as guidance as they get started during the Eastern Conference Final. We didn’t plan to expand this quickly but the Bruins run and fan excitement made the opportunity too good to miss.

In my league travels, I’m pleased to say I’ve made a few friends and kept tabs on my old colleagues. Jimmy Murphy in Boston fits both of those categories. We’re excited that someone with his background, passion, and knowledge of the game is involved. Jimmy’s contact list is one of the biggest in the league.

You may even catch me writing a few columns for them.

We would also like to publicly thank the Boston Bruins and their PR staff for their receptiveness in this endeavor. They have been welcoming and great to work with as we rushed our launch date up several months.

We have no idea where this road will take us but we’re driving at 100mph. Expect to see several more announcements like this over the coming months. Our formula works and we’re able to create full-time jobs for writers and media professionals who are able to bring solid hockey coverage beyond the standard newspaper scope.
