Penguins Room: Harrison Brunicke Humble After Eye-Opening Game

Published

on

Typically, the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room feature has multiple postgame reaction videos from various points in the locker room. However, there was only one story Tuesday, and that was the meteoric rise of 2024 Penguins second-round pick Harrison Brunicke.

Brunicke assisted on the only Penguins goal but was noticeable. Coach Mike Sullivan used the word “impactful” and said he’s “making an impression.”

The defenseman, who was the Penguins’ second-round pick in June (44th overall), is just 18 years old. If he doesn’t make the NHL roster, the Penguins will, by rule, return Brunicke to his junior team, the Kamloops Blazers. However, Brunicke is doing his best to force Sullivan to keep him.

Keep him for the nine game maximum and see how it goes. Could be another Olli Maatta situation. If it works out that would make another veteran expendable to trade for more futures.
