(PHN) — Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Jordy Bellerive was released from the Calgary Hospital yesterday, per Bellerive’s junior team, the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Bellerive and two other players were injured in a campfire accident, June 16.

Bellerive, 19, participated in the Penguins development camp and likely would have participated this year, as well. He is expected to make a full recovery. Bellerive’s former teammate Matt Alfaro, 21, who was also injured was released from the hospital last week.

Ryan Vandervlis, 20, suffered the most severe injuries, including burns to the front of his body. initially, he was in critical condition and placed in a medically induced coma. Vandervlis has awakened from the coma but remains in the Calgary Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

The Vandervlis family set up a GoFundMe page to help deal with the additional family expenses of living in Calgary to care for Ryan. It quickly surpassed its $25,000 goal. You may donate here. The family reported Vandervlis faces months of recovery and additional surgeries.

The incident occurred at Hurricane player Tyler Wong’s family home. A substance was placed into the fire which resulted in the injuries. Per accounts, the Wong family acted quickly and rushed the injured men to the hospital. The Wongs also clarified early reports which inaccurately portrayed the party as a bachelor party.
