Kris Letang Scores a Beauty Against Dallas

Penguin’s Kris Letang caused the PPG Paints Arena crowd to erupt with a beautiful goal to break a 1-1 tie in the third period against Dallas, Friday. In typical Letang fashion, he used his skating ability and butter-soft hands to deke out about half the Dallas Stars on the ice to score his third goal of the year. The play started with Letang taking a feed at the blue line and outwaited two Dallas defenders before smacking a shot short side. Words don’t do the goal justice, so watch Kris Letang do his thing.

The goal comes after Letang crossed off two milestones in previous games. The Canadien Defender tallied his 500th and 501st points on Sunday at Winnipeg. Letang also surpassed Syl Apps for ninth place on the franchise’s all-time points list and made him the first defenseman in Penguins history to record 500 points. He also appeared in his 754th game, Wednesday, surpassing Jean Pronovost for fifth place on the franchise’s all-time games played list.

As PHN’s Shelly Anderson wrote earlier this week,  Letang remains aware of his accomplishments, and I’m sure the epicness of Friday’s goal wasn’t lost on the Penguin’s Alternate Captain. Letang added his fourth goal of the year later in the third period and remains tied for second in the league in defensive scoring.
