Dan’s Daily: Top NHL Trade Bait, More Penguins Injuries, Coyotes in Trouble

Phil Kessel NHL trade rumors, Pittsburgh Penguins trade

The first TSN NHL trade bait list is on the shelves in time for Christmas. No Pittsburgh Penguins are on the list, but one former Penguins winger made the cut. The Penguins injury update has bad news but will give Kasperi Kapanen another chance to resurrect his season. The Philadelphia Flyers continued to lose, which helped the Penguins playoff picture, and the Arizona Coyotes were threatened with being locked out of their arena next week.

The Coyotes situation is interesting. They didn’t deny they were threatened with being locked out of their house until they paid bills, but late Wednesday night, the team claimed it was simply human error.

AZ Central: That’s a pretty big error. The Coyotes were threatened with being locked out of the arena next week because of non-payment of taxes and other local bills.  The Coyotes claimed it was just an error, not a lack of money.

Are we buying the explanation?

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Pittsburgh Penguins injury updates. It’s bad news for Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust.

PHN+: The injuries opened a spot for the struggling Kasperi Kapanen. Head coach Mike Sullivan laid out what Kapanen needs to do. And Kapanen dropped a blunt little truth bomb as he talked about this game–or his lack of game right now.

FanDuel is loving Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s readers–they’re offering a special promo just for us. Bet a buck and get $125–  125-1 odds if Tom Brady or Josh Allen throw for 1+ yards.

NHL Trade Chatter, News & National Hockey Now

TSN: No Penguins, but Phil Kessel made the list. The first NHL trade-bait board of the season.

NYI: Our boy Christian Arnold cited Daren Dreger’s interview with TSN 1200–Yep, the New York Islanders could be browsing the NHL trade market for help.

Hockey News: The Dallas Stars have a loaded crease. Ben Bishop has defied the odds, and he’ll begin a rehab assignment in the AHL. That means a trade is more likely, sooner than later.

NBC Sports: The Flyers play is baffling, writes Jordan Hall. Their streak hit 10 and they’re falling fast.

Vancouver: Bruce there it is! The Canucks are 2-0 under Bruce Boudreau, and they helped the Penguins cause by beating the Boston Bruins.

Who are the odds-on favorites to become the next Canucks GM? How is Marc Bergevin a candidate? Simpson lays out the candidates and the odds they get the job.

Montreal: Hey, hey–Carey Price put on the gear and hit the ice for the first time since exiting the players’ program for addiction.

Calgary: There’s a resurgence happening in Calgary. Now it’s time for the Calgary Flames to make the Saddledome a fearsome place to play.

Detroit: The Red Wings are on the Penguins’ heels in the Eastern Conference. However, they’re struggling to beat bigger, heavier teams.
