Dan’s Daily: NHL Trade Rumor Fireworks Waiting, Happy 4th!

Published

NHL trade, Pittsburgh Penguins, GM Ron Hextall

As fireworks makers, sellers, and display artists line up for their biggest day of the year, the NHL trade rumors also have a few balls in the launch cones. The Chicago Blackhawks are being sneaky-sneaky to put themselves in a position for Seth Jones. Duncan Keith and the Edmonton Oilers appear to be a great fit. Kirill Kaprizov and Bill Guerin will hit the negotiating table in Minnesota, and we’re making the Pittsburgh Penguins-Jake Guentzel trade chip story free for everyone (today only).

Happy Fourth of July to everyone. I will forever be proud that a group of colonists of all stripes and classes were willing to die to create their own country independent of tyranny and create a government of self-determination not seen on the planet in over 1000 years.

A copy of Thomas Paine’s ‘Common Sense’ sits on my mantle  (in addition to the volumes of the Fall of the Roman Empire).

The world hasn’t always been a good place, but from the darkness, the idea of America has been a beacon of light that immigrants from every corner have aspired to join, and we should always aspire to be. Happy Fourth–now let’s light this candle.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Free for everyone–Is Jake Guentzel a Pittsburgh Penguins trade piece? How realistic are suggestions, and in what context could the Penguins trade Guentzel?

NHL Playoffs, Stanley Cup Final:

Sportsnet: Carey Price will start Game 4 for the Montreal Canadiens despite a few softies in the series.

Luke Fox asks–What logic is there to push thousands of people to the streets instead of in the arena? Let them in!

Game 4–the Stanley Cup will be in the building tomorrow night. (Thankfully, it’s not tonight because I would not stay home to watch!).

NHL Trade Rumors, National Hockey Now network:

Edmonton Journal: Sneaky, sneaky Chicago Blackhawks. The team thought to be interested in Seth Jones may backdoor their way to frontrunner status. Word on the street is Chicago will acquire Caleb Jones to entice Seth Jones. And more NHL trade chatter that Edmonton is the spot for Duncan Keith.

Ohio 1st Battery: So, what will it take to make Columbus Blue Jackets fans happy with a Seth Jones trade?

Puckpedia: Want to play around with different teams or the Penguins to see who should be exposed? The Puckpedia Expansion Draft Tool is online…

Star Tribune: After signing Joel Eriksson Ek Karill to an eight-year, $42 million deal, the Minnesota Wild will start more negotiations next week. Kirill Kaprizov–the runaway Calder Trophy winner–will sit down with the Minnesota Wild next week, as will Kevin Fiala, to talk contract.

Washington: The man behind the mask–Phoenix Copley. A goalie and a scholar.

And–my favorite story is usually last. It’s like the anchor leg of a relay race. Today, Detroit Hockey Now does the research. Here’s what the research shows–Can a team take a goalie in the first round?

First of all I wish you Americans a happy and great Indepence Day!

I really hope that the Habs will win game 4 and make it a series.

Pens, please don’t trade Guentzel, he’s a very very good player and if he hits the gym and gain a few pounds of muscles and keeping his speed it would be great. But the Pens really need some bigger more physical players. Even if the Fleury ship has sailed, how about Lehner? He has an answer about all the runs opponents take on Pens goalies.
