NHL trade rumors, Stanley Cup Final Golden Knights stunned, Pittsburgh Penguins' Tristan Jarry decision

Two minutes away from a 3- 0 series lead, the Vegas Golden Knights committed the cardinal sin in Game 3. The VGK did not tackle or lock Matthew Tkachuk in the nearest broom closet, and he scored the tying goal as the extra attacked after the Florida Panthers pulled their goalie. The situation around Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry is changing in the team’s favor. A few young players are on the NHL trade block, either for economic reasons or by request, and Toronto is trying to decode new GM Brad Treliving’s plans for the Maple Leafs.

I’ll admit I was absolutely rooting for the Golden Knights Thursday and bummed when they lost. If they won and completed the sweep Saturday, I would not only get to cover a Cup celebration and parade but also be home much sooner. I’d like to get back to my routine. Or make this my routine. But suitcase living, even in Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale, has limits.

Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, Pirates:

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The changing scene around Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry. The NHL trade market now has a glut of goalies. Here’s how it affects the Jarry and the Penguins.

Steelers Now: Kenny Pickett pops. Calvuin Austin Impresses. Steelers OTAs.

Wait, a rookie running back calls out Minka Fitzpatrick? Steelers news.

Pittsburgh Baseball Now: Remember that Jameson Taillon trade that looked pretty good? With Roansy Contreras flatlining and the rest of the haul gone or not making an impact, it’s losing a bit of its luster for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Endy Rodriguez and Henry Davis are giving a glimpse of the future — more in the Pirates prospects report.

NHL Trade Talk, Stanley Cup Final, and National Hockey Now:

Vegas Hockey Now: Oh boy. It was so close. The city and the team could taste it. And then … Matthew Tkachuk. Florida wins in OT, 3-2. Here’s the Golden Knights recap.

And here is the analysis — it wasn’t a banner night for Adin Hill or the VGK defensemen. Golden Knights analysis.

Florida Hockey Now: From the flip side, Sunrise partied like it was 1996. The first win in a Stanley Cup Final for the Florida Panthers.

Rescued AGAIN by Carter Verhaeghe and Matthew Tkachuk.

How salty do you think Calgary fans are right now?

Now the NHL trade rumors…

Philly Hockey Now: The NHL trade rumor is buzzing with the Carter Hart show.

TSN: Agent Pat Brisson informed the Winnipeg Jets that Pierre-Luc Dubois wouldn’t be signing a contract with them and requested a trade. Cue the rumors.

Can a young RFA-to-be reverse tamper and essentially ruin his trade value by making it well-known that he wants to play in Montreal?

Montreal Hockey Now: Our colleagues in Montreal write that it’s not a done deal. Not ALL roads lead to the Montreal Canadiens.

Colorado Hockey Now: In desperate need of a second center, should the Colorado Avalanche chase Dubois?

Boston Hockey Now: No shocker, but still news. Sources tell Jimmy Murphy that Tyler Bertuzzi intends to become a free agent. Show me the money. More on Tyler Bertuzzi.

Ottawa Sun: Alex DeBrincat’s people have submitted a list of preferred destinations. Bruce Garrioch lists the potential interested suitors for the 40-goal scorer. This might be the most intriguing situation on the NHL trade block.

Sportsnet: And here’s the potentially earth-moving trade situation. What will Treliving do with the Maple Leafs’ core four?

Is it starting to seem like more teams are rebuilding than going for it? Every GM is trying to move salary and get younger. Pretty soon, being 30 will be a death sentence.
