Dan’s Daily: Penguins Updates, Fleury Uncertainty, Subban Up for Grabs
The Pittsburgh Penguins will get one player back in the lineup, and Bryan Rust will hit a milestone on Tuesday night. Kasperi Kapanen appeared to be upbeat and feeling better about his game but admitted the struggles and the game suck sometimes. Contradictory reports from Chicago indicate Marc-Andre Fleury may not be firmly decided to stay or hit the NHL trade block, and P.K. Subban will indeed be on the block.
So much of the news around the league is exciting, and…we have the Penguins.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Evgeni Malkin was back at practice, Louis Domingue was on his way to the WBS Penguins, and Bryan Rust will hit a milestone game Tuesday night. Pittsburgh Penguins notebook.
Teddy Blueger looks to be a go, too.
PHN+: “It sucks sometimes…” The chances and struggles can take a toll, but Kasperi Kapanen sounded upbeat about his recent trend.
NHL Trade Rumors, News & National Hockey Now:
Ben Pope took direct aim at a Toronto report that Marc-Andre Fleury decided to stay in Chicago.
My understanding is the Fleury situation is still up in the air, contrary to this report. I don’t think he has ruled it out. https://t.co/iCrPT2xf9Y

32 Thoughts Podcast: If you’re into the podcasts, Marek and Friedman got into the NHL trade chatter, from Hertl to Giroux and Ristolainen.
Sportsnet: I don’t see this one happening. Sportsnet’s Rory Boylen suggested the Pittsburgh Penguins 2022 first-round pick is in play or should be.
If Hextall moves that first-rounder, it would be part of a deal for a player the Penguins plan to keep around for some time, not a mid-30s rental. Or you could knock me over with a feather.
NBC: The NHL suspended its agreement with the KHL.
I don’t like making pawns of athletes, but what else can you do when the Russian dictator and oligarchs, who invaded a sovereign nation under ridiculous pretenses and are purposely shelling civilians, have business interests that intertwine with sports?
Vegas: What will GM Kelly McCrimmon do with Evgenii Dadonov? Vegas Golden Knights chatter.
Montreal Hockey Now: Our guys in Montreal are ABSOLUTELY killing it up there. Marco D’Amico has been a gemstone find. With the NHL trade deadline less than two weeks away, what should the Montreal Canadiens do with Jonathan Drouin?
The boys dropped a great podcast with RVA’s Louis Jean, too. Should the Habs trade Carey Price? Montreal Canadiens podcast.
NHL.com: The New Jersey Devils won’t offer P.K. Subban a new deal. He’ll not only be a free agent but available at the NHL trade deadline.
Metro Division:
Philly: The NHL trade rumors are weighing on Claude Giroux. Things are getting heavy with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Washington: More on Jaromir Jagr’s big arena game in Prague to raise money for Ukraine, from our Washington Capitals beat, Sammi Silber.
NYI: The Colorado Avalanche were just too much on Long Island. But watch the save New York Islanders goalie Semyon Varlamov made.
