Dan’s Daily: Will Trade Market Open? Goalie Slams ‘Internet Tough Guys’

Miska Hunter Colorado Avalanche, NHL Trade talk, Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins had a glorious off day on Monday. After five games in seven days and 14 in 23, even this writer found some time to put down the keyboard. The countdown to the April 12 NHL trade deadline has begun, and there are more P.K. Subban trade rumors and more rumors linking Kyle Palmieri to the New York Islanders. Colorado goalie Hunter Miska deleted his Twitter account and let people know why.

And the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to great lengths to resurrect Alex Galchenyuk.

You remember the brief and exciting Penguins stint of Galchenyuk, right? From chatting with him a couple of times, it was clear his confidence was gone.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Sidney Crosby believes the Penguins’ chances are there, but they have to “bury more.” They scored six goals in three games–it goes deeper. Of course, PHN looked at why and how/who may overcome the Penguins goal drought.

No one else wrote every day throughout the pandemic, covered the bubble in Toronto, and told you P.O. Joseph was coming. We did.

Here is a GREAT STORY from Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now. Hunter Miska is/was the Colorado Avalanche backup goalie. After a couple of bad games, fans were crushing him on his Twitter account. It wasn’t pleasant. He deleted the account.

Dater chatted with Miska about the ugly experience and getting back to the NHL.

Dater was wrongly accused by a prominent writer of inciting it…on Twitter, of course. We debated further action. Obviously, Miska knew Dater had no hand in it and had a good chat with a good writer. Twitter is ugly. It’s misery. If mobs can form over nonsense like a Burger King ad, why not group together to call out ugliness? Clean up, or “red up the house.”  Don’t be a toxic idiot.

Sportsnet: And, Toronto is going to great lengths the revive Alex Galchenyuk’s flagging career.

NHL Trade Talk

Full props to our Jimmy Murphy, who was the first to put P.K. Subban’s name on the NHL trade block Sunday morning in the weekly “Off the Record” segment.

NY Post: Larry Brooks of the NY Post has followed suit. He, too, reports teams could get Subban.

Toronto Star: The Toronto Maple Leafs are shopping goalie Freddy Andersen?

Vegas RJ: The Vegas Knights are standing pat? They think so.

Boston Hockey Now: Don Sweeney addressed the media. When will the NHL trade market open up?

Newsday: Isles looking at Kyle Palmieri?

National Hockey Now:

Vegas: Keegan Kolesar scored his first NHL goal, and Vegas keeps rolling.

San Jose: The Sharks aren’t the worst. They crowned the Kings 2-1 Monday night.

NYI: Ilya Sorokin STOLE a point for the Islanders (and Penguins). I love the headline, too. Save by Sorokin!

Philly: The other side as the Flyers yielded another point, and trail the Penguins by six with two games in hand. The Flyers faltered.Â
