Dan’s Daily: Top Penguins Prospects Bust Out, Torts on Hot Seat
The Pittsburgh Penguins’ top prospects Sam Poulin and Nathan Legare, have been good but not great in the start and stop QMJHL season. Both final-year-eligible prospects were traded to the Val-d’Or Foreurs, and the QMJHL adopted a four-city bubble. Both had eye-popping stats on Monday night. Columbus Blue Jackets John Tortorella’s seat may be getting warm, and the Anaheim Ducks are filling the NHL trade rumors.
QMJHL: There isn’t much media coverage of the QMJHL, including from team websites, but I found the highlights from the Val-d’Or 7-3 win on Monday night. Sam Poulin had a goal and three assists. Nathan Legare had two goals and–get this–13 shots on goal.Â
You’ll notice Legare immediate with a drop-to-one-knee wicked one-timer.
Penguins GM Ron Hextall said if they could find more toughness, they would consider adding it. That’s GM speak for yes, but the price can’t be ridiculous.
PHN+: So, we went shopping for Hextall. There aren’t many players who would fit the bill for the Penguins, but we found there. Here are three potential Penguins trade fits.Â

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Today is an awesome day–the Pittsburgh Penguins will get fans back in the stands.
It sure seems like the Governor caught everyone by surprise. The Penguins staff raced to prepare. Late last week, a well-placed source in Pittsburgh city government told PHN that the Penguins made the formal request for fans but “had not heard back.”
The Penguins even sent an email to season ticket holders that adjusted their packages to begin in April.
Email scandals, porn scandals, tolling bridges, and one of the worst vaccine rollouts in the country. All branches of the PA government haven’t distinguished itself in the last few years.
NHL.com: After five straight losses, Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella addressed his job security.
93-7 the Fan: I don’t know how I missed this, but there was a full-on goalie fight in Wheeling.Â
The Athletic: The Anaheim Ducks appear to be on the verge of a sell-off. The NHL rumor mill is warming up.Â
National Hockey Now
Philly Hockey Now:Â Cue the NHL rumor mill. The Nashville Predators have been scouting the Flyers prospects in the AHL.Â
Boston Hockey Now:Â Â Also, Trent Frederic is drawing interest on the NHL trade block.Â
Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights didn’t have their best game, but Vegas Marc-Andre Fleury earned his 10th win in a 5-4 win over MN.
San Jose Hockey Now: Erik Karlsson was old-time Karlsson. The Sharks ambushed Colorado, 6-2.Â
Colorado Hockey Now: Yep, the Avs’ lack of killer instinct was a factor in the loss.Â
NYI Hockey Now: The Isles have a handful of young stars, and the New York Islanders are proving patience works.Â
Florida Hockey Now: Florida just keeps winning racking up points. The Panthers beat Carolina.
Oops, as a commenter pointed out, Florida lost in OT, but they’re 13-4-4, so the winning part is kind of true?
