(PODCAST) No Pucks Given Ep6: The Fall of the Penguins, Blame Game

The Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be entering the final stage of the Sidney Crosby era. The staggering number of blown two-goal leads isn’t a cause of the losing but another effect of the real issues plaguing the Penguins.

Dan Kingerski digs into the three underlying causes of the struggles and the blame game.

From the podcast description:

“The worst is yet to come for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The hardest part of the fall awaits as the team slides to irrelevancy after blowing NINE two-goal leads. Comparing the Penguins’ future to those who have gone through it, as well as three underlying causes with one overarching theme. From the roster construction to coach Mike Sullivan, we lay it bare.”

Also, there’s a saucy nugget from Sullivan regarding the team’s defensive system that will add a little knowledge to your game, too. Maybe it’s more ammo to criticize, and maybe it changes your perspective. We like to think it’s one of the features that sets No Pucks Given apart.

Is it easier for a GM to get players for a system or for a coach to adapt to the players?

If the question and answer were only that simple. In this setup, the GM is supposed to provide players for a system. Most GMs get to pick their coach, thus their system, but Dubas agreed to this setup.

No system has shown more consistent losing than Sully’s system over the last 6 years.
ANY coach can lose for 6 years in a row.
Fire Sully!
