The Pittsburgh Penguins figure to have more prospects and young players in their 2025 Development Camp. Monday, the team announced that the development camp will begin on July 3 at the UPMC Lemieux Complex.

The most fun part of the annual camp is the tournament, and like the practices, which typically aren’t spectator-friendly, the tournament will also be open to fans. The three-team intra-squad prospects tournament is on Monday, July 7. The games are usually three-on-three, and the first game is scheduled to begin at noon.

The Penguins have not yet announced their camp roster, but will almost assuredly add a few more attendees this weekend at the 2025 NHL Draft. Prospects such as goaltender Sergei Musharov and Harrison Brunicke are likely participants, and it’s quite possible Rutger McGroarty and Ville Koivunen could also participate despite making their NHL debuts late last season.

In the past, head coach Mike Sullivan oversaw the camp but didn’t directly coach, leaving those tasks to the AHL coaches and his assistants. However, this will be coach Dan Muse’s first development camp, and he was hired in part because of his developmental background. The team also named three assistant coaches, Todd Nelson, Rich Clune, and Nick Bonino, last week.

Attendance is free.

Zegras to the flyers, isn’t it wonderful having a gm who constantly misses out on players that could actually help the team just to sign or trade for leftovers.

Shrewd move by the Flyboys to acquire Zebras on the cheap, something I lobbied for here repeatedly. Low price for high upside. Tocchet will get the most out of him.
