Pittsburgh Penguins score vs. Boston Bruins

The Pittsburgh Penguins(8-8-4) hope to win their second in a row tonight as they face the Boston Bruins (11-6-4) at the TD Garden. It is the first of back-to-back games for the Penguins who host the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow night at PPG Paints Arena.

Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed Tristan Jarry, who was called up yesterday from the WBS Penguins, will start in goal. Jarry, 23, was 14-6-2 in 26 NHL appearances last season. This season in the AHL, Jarry is 4-5-1 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.89 goals against average. Jarry is one of the few goalies who typically plays better in the NHL than the AHL.

Penguins goalie Matt Murray was placed on IR, Thursday with a lower body injury. Murray joined Matt Cullen and Justin Schultz on the Penguins injured list.

Penguins winger Tanner Pearson has three points and two goals in his last two games. Pearson scored his first goal as a Penguins, Monday against Buffalo. He scored again Wednesday against Dallas. The goals were Pearson’s first of the season and first goals since Mar. 12-13, 2018.

Phil Kessel has a six-game scoring streak (3g, 6a) and Zach Aston-Reese skated a career-high 17:09 against Dallas, Wednesday.

Olli Maatta is one point shy of 100 for his career. Jake Guentzel is four points shy.

Derek Grant is a game-time decision. He centered the Penguins fourth line against Dallas. Daniel Sprong will be a healthy scratch if Grant is able to play. He will get a sweater if Grant cannot.

Chad Ruhwedel again projects to be the Penguins healthy scratch on defense.
