Penguins Make Minor Trade for AHL D-man; Trade Away Jagger Joshua
The Pittsburgh Penguins swapped a journeyman minor-league forward for a journeyman minor-league defenseman Friday afternoon as they acquired Colton Poolman from the Buffalo Sabres organization in exchange for forward Bennet MacArthur, who was playing in Wheeling of the ECHL.
Poolman, 29, is a left-shot defenseman who has never played in the NHL. He has 218 games of AHL experience, including only five games this season with the Rochester Americans, the Sabres’ AHL affiliate. In his five professional seasons, Poolman has five goals, 34 assists, and only 37 penalty minutes.
He will report to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, whose defensive corps has also been recently decimated by injuries. Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager Jason Spezza also serves as the WBS Penguins GM.
MacArthur has seven points in 28 ECHL games this season.
The Penguins made a separate deal with Rochester, trading away large forward Jagger Joshua for future considerations. Joshua is the younger brother of Vancouver Canucks grinder Dakota Joshua and split this season between the Wheeling Nailers and WBS Penguins.
Joshua, 25, spent three seasons in the USHL, then four seasons at Michigan State before turning pro. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward had one assist in four AHL contests this season. He had 25 points with 93 penalty minutes in 63 AHL games last season.

I guess they needed a minor league D man with all the injuries in WBS? Not sure but I am sad they traded Joshua, one of the very few big guys that could throw his weight around. Not sure how much skill he has, but he loves hitting people, which is good in my book.
