Penguins Postgame: Playoffs?! Optimism, and a Chance
SALT LAKE CITY — With the Utah Capitol Building over his shoulder, Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now reported back from the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room, where a contagious case of optimism broke out after Sidney Crosby’s slick overtime winner.
The Penguins beat the Utah Hockey Club 3-2 in overtime at the Delta Center. Dan took us inside the room for a somewhat surprising coach, Mike Sullivan’s genuine optimism.
Goalie Alex Nedeljokvic was stellar. He said the plane ride would be must more tolerable. Even coach Mike Sullivan sounded an optimistic tone as he threw caution to the wind. We dished the player grades–who kept the team afloat and who continued to sink. We named names.
The Penguins are indeed just five points out of a playoff spot (but most teams have at least three games in hand).
Enjoy. From Salt Lake City
