Penguins Postgame: Searching for Answers After Another Collapse vs. Tampa Bay
The Pittsburgh Penguins have an allergy to holding leads. For the second game in a row and eighth time in 21 games, the Penguins had a multiple goal lead, only to collapse and lose.
The Penguins led the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 but lost 3-2 in overtime. It was the fifth time they’ve lost a game in which they led by two or more, and eighth time they’ve lost a game despite possessing a lead.
“I don’t know what to say,” said Marcus Pettersson.
Coach Mike Sullivan used couched words but with a heavy tone, “We have to take pride in playing defense.”
After a good start, the Penguins managed just six shots in the second period and four shots in the third period, while they had no shots in the overtime period.
Everyone is searching for answers. We dive into the players who played well, Coach Mike Sullivan’s in-game choices, and the accompanying melancholy inside the locker room. It’s the five-minute Penguins postgame from PPG Paints Arena.
