Penguins Recall WBS Defenseman Kral, Waive Forward

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a recall for their final regular season game, or at least the next couple of days of practice. Tuesday, the team recalled defenseman Filip Krall from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL.
Kral, 25, has played in two career NHL games. Both were with the 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs, of which current Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas was the GM.
This season, the left-handed Kral has played in 59 games with the WBS Penguins, scoring seven goals and registering 29 points. He’s also a minus-14 with 30 penalty minutes.
Kral is 6-foot-2, 198 pounds and is completing his third season in the AHL. He spent the 2023-24 season with the Pelicans of the Finnish Elite League. However, Kral is a native Czech who played for the Czechian World Juniors team in 2018 and 2019.
Correction: The team also waived forward Joona Koppanen to the WBS Penguins.
The original version indicated that Koppanen had already been returned.
The Penguins practice on Tuesday at the UPMC Lemieux Complex, and PHN will update the story if warranted.
See him wearing #82 reminded me of Martin Straka, it’s been a while since a Pens wore that number.
He also has the Jagr mullet
Kral is a good player, Ive got to see him play alot in Wilkes Barre.
