According to NBC Sports, Pittsburgh fans watched the most NHL hockey during the 2018-19 regular season.

NBC Sports announced on Monday that the Pittsburgh market, served by WPXI-TV and NBC Sports Network, led all local NHL markets with a combined 1.30 household rating for the season.

Pittsburgh also led all markets with a 3.55 rating on NBC broadcasts. Pittsburgh slightly trailed Buffalo on ratings for NBCSN broadcasts, 1.08 to 1.02.

Buffalo was the No. 2 overall market in the nation, followed by Las Vegas, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Tampa, Providence, Chicago, Nashville, Boston, and Washington.

Games 1, 2 and 4 of the Penguins’ first-round series with the New York Islanders will be broadcast both on NBCSN and AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh. Game 3 on Sunday will be broadcast on NBC.

The NHL Stadium Series game between the Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers lifted Pittsburgh’s overall numbers. That game, which averaged 1.969 million viewers, was the most-viewed NHL game on NBC except for the annual Winter Classic in the last five year, according to NBC.
