Penguins vs. Jets Betting Odds, Picks, Prediction (November 22, 2021)
On Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins (7-6-4) will try to keep their first winning streak of the season going and extend it to three games when they visit the Winnipeg Jets (9-4-4) at Canada Life Centre. The Penguins are riding high with back to back shut outs of the lowly Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs, who were red hot heading into that contest. Meanwhile, the Jets have registered at least one point in 13-of-15 (9-2-4) but are returning home for just this one game after splitting a pair in Edmonton and Vancouver and heading back on the road this week for games in Columbus, Minnesota and Calgary.
Let’s get into our Penguins vs. Jets betting pick with player prop predictions, odds, and analysis for this November 22, 2021 matchup.

Penguins-Jets Preview
The Penguins continue to confound. They lose games to teams like New Jersey, Chicago, Ottawa and Buffalo but find ways to win against Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Toronto twice.
Right now though, they are working on back-to-back shutouts, and haven’t allowed a goal in 151:06 of hockey time. That’s predominantly been because of the play of goalie Tristan Jarry, who has gotten the bulk of the work for Pittsburgh and has a 7-4-3 record with a 2.17 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
He’ll need to be good against a Winnipeg squad that is in the top half of the NHL in scoring, which includes an 11th ranked power play that is clicking at 21.3 percent.
The Penguins power play has really struggled this season, but they also haven’t gotten many chances since Sidney Crosby returned from the COVID-19 protocol. They are 2-for-8 in the last four games. That said, the Jets penalty kill is dreadful, ranking 31st in the NHL with a 63.8 percent kill rate.
If the Penguins can start to get a few chances, with Crosby back and guys like Jake Guentzel getting hot (4-2-6 in his last five games), there’s a chance for them to win this game on special teams.
The Jets offense rolls through one guy primarily – and that’s Kyle Connor. His 22 points are tied for fourth-best in the entire NHL, behind only the otherworldly Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Alex Ovechkin.
Connor has registered points in all but three Jets games this season, and as he goes, so goes the team. The Jets are 6-1-3 when Connor scores. Remarkably, only one of his goals has come on the power play, so if the Penguins want to win, they need to neutralize him at even strength.

Bets We Like with a Penguins Win
Sidney Crosby to go OVER 0.5 power play points (+225, BetMGM)
[bet-promo id=”24578″ ]
There are a lot of great player prop odds on the Penguins power play right now. That’s because the Penguins struggle to score with the man advantage. But, they are 25 percent since Crosby returned to the lineup and the Jets are a sieve while shorthanded. You can get great odds on Guentzel, Bryan Rust, Kris Letang and Jeff Carter too. If Pittsburgh is going to win this game, it’s going to have to win the special teams battle. Look for Crosby to guide that power play back to respectability over time, and it could start with one or two goals there tonight.

Bets We Like with a Jets Win
Jets to win the game by more than 1.5 goals(+225, FanDuel Sportsbook)
[bet-promo id=”23805″ ]
Since the game is practically a pick ’em based purely on the betting odds, that doesn’t mean there can’t be a tweak to your bet to get you more value. That’s why we suggest taking the Jets with the puck line as a 1.5 puck favorite.
First of all, the Jets are 7-1-1 in home games this season, and five of the seven wins have been by more than a goal.
Secondly, the Jets have covered the puck line in each of their last eight games at Canada Life Centre following a road loss. They seem to get re-energized and re-focused at home, and this is a good spot to catch Pittsburgh – because they won’t be able to keep shutting people out forever. More than double your bet by taking the Jets with the puck line.

Bets We Like Independent of Outcome
OVER 1.5 total goals in the first period (-115, DraftKings Sportsbook)
[bet-promo id=”23817″ ]
It might seem odd to bet on some goals in the first period considering the Penguins shutout streak and the Jets having not gone over one goal in the first period in their last three games. But the Jets have gone over 1.5 goals in nine first periods and the Penguins in eight.
Oh, and the last eight times these two teams played each other, it’s gone over 1.5 goals in the first period. Get an early cash then wait for you later props to kick in as well and have a good night betting the game.

Penguins vs. Jets Prediction

We actually like the OVER in this game too, if you want to look for another play, and we think both teams will get theirs. But, we’ll give the Jets the bet-winner via empty net in the third period.
Prediction: Jets 5, Penguins 3
