Dan’s Daily Links: Kessel Vetoes Trade to MN, Boston Dominates Game 1

Published

There were too many huge headlines to stuff into the headline feature today. Phil Kessel vetoed a trade to Minnesota, Gary Bettman said the league wants to expand video review, Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was seen partying with what appeared to be cocaine, and oh by the way, the Boston Bruins thoroughly dominated Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final in the final two periods.

First, the Kessel story. Michael Russo of the Athletic reported last night Phil Kessel vetoed the trade to Minnesota which involved Jason Zucker. Neither team is thrilled (The Athletic)

We’ll have more on this later this morning.

Evgeny Kuznetsov may want to be more careful where or how he parties. Video has surfaced showing him near what appears to be cocaine (Russian Machine Never Breaks)

The Boston Bruins were dominant. The energy line, otherwise known as the fourth line sparked the Bruins. Get the full analysis of Game 1 from our boys in Boston (Boston Hockey Now)

Gary Bettman said video review could expand. At this point, he’s just trolling us, right? (Sportsnet)

Bettman did talk about forming a women’s league, too. I believe women’s hockey has a far greater chance of success than women’s soccer in the US. The excitement from fans, especially women, is showing there is a market. Whether or not it could survive after the initial goodwill is another matter.

The Edmonton Oilers are finally ready to name a new coach amid concern, apathy, and optimism (Edmonton Sun)y..
