It was an interesting discussion a few media folks had following Pittsburgh Penguins GM Jim Rutherford’s press conference to talk about his selection to the Hockey Hall of Fame in the Builders’ category. We argued, threw a few barbs but it was an enjoyable conversation. The other participants are people I respect greatly.
Moments before, Rutherford walked into the little concrete block walled workroom at the Penguins practice facility in Cranberry Township and spoke about the recognition of his life’s work. He was clearly humbled and overwhelmed.
The magnitude of that is not something anyone could brush off.
