PHN Postgame: Penguins WIN Shootout; Breaking Down Comeback Win

Published

on

The Penguins returned from a four-day break caused by the league’s COVID-19-caused schedule shuffle to the exact same situation they faced before the break: another tight game against East Division rival New York Islanders. Unlike that one, the Penguins prevailed in another one-goal decision on Thursday, winning 4-3 in a shootout after Evgeni Malkin tied the game late and Sidney Crosby scored the shootout winner at Nassau Coliseum.

Alan Saunders and Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now broke down the win, including Malkin’s late goal, another stagnant game from the Pittsburgh power play and the return to the lineup of defensemen Kris Letang and Mike Matheson and hard-nosed forward Zach Aston-Reese.
