Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic plays one of the most mentally — and sometimes, physically — demanding positions in sports.

And that’s under normal circumstances.

Which is nothing like the situation in which Nedeljkovic and his teammates find themselves now.

Nedeljkovic has started the Penguins’ past nine games, and seems likely to extend that streak to 10 when Detroit visits PPG Paints Arena Thursday at 7:08 p.m.

During that time, the Penguins have gone from an afterthought in the Eastern Conference playoff race to an active participant, as Nedeljkovic has helped them go on a 6-0-3 run.
