Penguins Bring Nylander Back From Wilkes-Barre (Again)

Alex Nylander’s trip back to the American Hockey League didn’t last long.

One day after sending him to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre, the Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled Nylander.

As was the case earlier this week, he was brought here on an emergency recall.

Tuesday, it was because the Penguins were going to have only 10 healthy forwards for their game against Columbus because Bryan Rust and Mikael Granlund were not able to play.

The circumstances surrounding his recall this time were not immediately known, but bringing him back on emergency suggests that the Penguins believe there is at least a chance they won’t have 12 healthy forwards available for their game against Philadelphia Saturday at 3:38 p.m.

The game against the Blue Jackets was Nylander’s first with the Penguins, and he earned an assist in their 5-4 overtime victory.

He has 25 goals and 25 assists in 54 appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.
