Penguins Bring Nylander Back From Wilkes-Barre (Again)

Published

on

Alex Nylander’s trip back to the American Hockey League didn’t last long.

One day after sending him to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre, the Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled Nylander.

As was the case earlier this week, he was brought here on an emergency recall.

Tuesday, it was because the Penguins were going to have only 10 healthy forwards for their game against Columbus because Bryan Rust and Mikael Granlund were not able to play.

The circumstances surrounding his recall this time were not immediately known, but bringing him back on emergency suggests that the Penguins believe there is at least a chance they won’t have 12 healthy forwards available for their game against Philadelphia Saturday at 3:38 p.m.

The game against the Blue Jackets was Nylander’s first with the Penguins, and he earned an assist in their 5-4 overtime victory.

He has 25 goals and 25 assists in 54 appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.

Should have been up here but as usual Sullivan didn’t like him? Teddy, Heinen etc. His garbage McGinn us actually lucky to leave. He actually was highly thought of young talent. Kid has talent. Put on a line and leave him there. Put him back with Geno and Zucker. Move Rust to 3rd line to help that line.

Please don’t joke with Dan about Nylander. Nylander is here on an emergency recall only.

Under Section 13.12(m), an emergency recall can be used in a situation where the NHL club (due to injury, illness or suspension) don’t have two healthy goalies, six healthy defensemen, or 12 healthy forwards.

Yeah, no one should get their hopes up. The Sully ethos is “If it’s broke, don’t fix it. Just keep doing the same.” And holding grudges forever. He’ll probably scratch POJ again, the guy with the highest plus/minus on the team and the only other offense/playmaker from the blue line other than Tanger. I know Petry had a couple goals but that won’t be a recurring thing.
