Aston-Reese Talks Deal, and a Changing Penguins Style (PHN+)

Moments before his arbitration hearing began Monday morning, the Pittsburgh Penguins extended a two-year offer to forward Zach Aston-Reese thus avoiding a potentially ugly or hurtful process.



Imagine sitting in a room with your employers who tell a third party why you aren’t worth what you believe to be fair based on colleagues or competition. Pittsburgh Hockey Now was the first to report the two-year, $2 million deal which relieved Aston-Reese and canceled the arbitration hearing even as Aston-Reese and his representation set up for the meeting.

“We were actually setting up for the meeting and then we got (the offer) right before it started. I think right at 9 o’clock it got done. So, right on time,” Aston-Reese said.

Whew.
