It is possible that neither Abdul Carter nor Cam Ward will be claimed with one of the first 20 selections in the NFL Draft, forcing the Steelers to choose between them with the 21st pick.

And it is possible that the Penguins will sign Brad Marchand when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

All of which illustrates just how great the gap between “possible” and “likely” can be.

Still, the idea of Marchand joining the Penguins is not completely detached from reality.
