Ladies and gentlemen: Your Pittsburgh Penguins top line of Jake Guentzel, Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust. It seems appropriate to re-introduce the three, seeing as how they have hardly played in the same game together this season despite being an established and prolific trio.
Six games. That’s it. Six games with all three participating. That was a stretch that started Nov. 14 against Washington, and it lasted all of 10 days. So it’s been more than a month since all three were in the lineup together.
Crosby, the center, has missed time because of offseason wrist surgery and a bout with COVID-19. Rust, the right winger, has had two injury absences, including the past 11 games. Guentzel, the left winger, missed one game because of COVID-19 and the past four because of a hand injury.
