Dan’s Daily: Trouba Whiffs on Blatant Headshot, Penguins Draft Expectations

Published

on

NHL rumors, Pittsburgh Penguins, Jacob Trouba

It’s all things funny, sad and enraging. New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba has been the scourge of the 2022 NHL playoffs with a string of borderline and illegal hits almost exclusively to opponents’ heads. He whiffed comically on Thursday night. Fired Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy already has interest from several teams. Nazem Kadri could play in the Stanley Cup Final. Johnny Gaudreau and the NHL rumors. And what are the Pittsburgh Penguins’ draft expectations?

Let’s get straight to Trouba. It’s a Gong Show that the NHL hasn’t yet dealt with the problem. Perhaps an overt and obvious attempt to decapitate Ondrej Palat will send the DoPS into action. (You just started laughing, didn’t you?)

Technically, the league could suspend Trouba for unsportsmanlike conduct. Despite missing, the NHL suspended Evgeni Malkin for swinging his stick at a Philadelphia Flyers player. So, it can be done. It SHOULD be done. A suspension, not the stick swinging…

NHL Playoffs:

NHL.com: Oh, and the Tampa Bay Lightning won Game 5 after a dominant third period. They beat the New York Rangers 3-1 and lead the series 3-2.

Colorado Hockey Now: There’s a chance. He’s not ruled out, so Nazem Kadri could play in the Stanley Cup Final. Colorado Avalanche coverage.

After a few years of heartbreaking failures, such as wasting a 2-0 lead to Vegas last season and then getting run out of the series, the Avalanche have learned. Avalanche analysis.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: What can the Penguins expect to get with the 21st pick in the 2022 NHL Draft? Dave Molinari looked at the recent talent level at that pick, which bodes very well for the Pittsburgh Penguins draft.

The Athletic: Hailey Salvain laid out the potential landing spots for Johnny Gaudreau this summer. While I don’t think it’s likely, she did make a solid case for several teams, including the Penguins.

NHL Rumors, News & National Hockey Now:

Boston Hockey Now: Bruce Cassidy had an acrimonious split with the Boston Bruins. In his own words, he admitted to being a bit salty after getting the boot this week. However, other teams didn’t waste time, and Cassidy is already talking to other teams. Boston Bruins news.

TSN: What about Claude Giroux re-signing in Florida? And what about Gaudreau? Pierre LeBrun also dove into the Gaudreau and the growing NHL rumors around Giroux and “Johnny Hockey.”

Calgary: Colleague Steve Macfarlane writes that the deal with Gaudreau may not happen until the 11th hour. Calgary Flames coverage.

Montreal: Sources tell our colleagues that the Montreal Canadiens may have circled Ville Husso to replace Carey Price, and the Canadiens have already done some heavy scouting. Montreal Canadiens news.

Philly: Buckle up for this one. Oddsmakers like John Tortorella to be the next head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Vancouver: Rob Simpson looked at Patrik Allvin’s affinity for Nordic players, including Juuso Riikola and Valterri Puustinen. Vancouver Canucks analysis.

Just think if Trouba would of connected like he planned. How would of DOPS handled it? Palat is shorter and Trouba is taller excuse? And if he connected how bad of a head injury would of it caused and Trouba was launching himself also.
I noticed when the replay showed it last night the announcers barely noticed it. Unbelievable

Probably as bad a head injury as the Lightning fan who was assaulted and knocked out after the game.

that dude is sitting in a cell, 2 counts of aggr assult, 2 counts of disorderly conduct, and 2 count of something else with bodily harm, they saying he had something in his hand as well. They said the lightning fan was knocked out and refused medical treatment. Def a dick move by that dude

If Trouba connects, Palat isn’t around to score the game-winner in the third period. That’s why the scumbag is an MVP candidate today’s No Hockey League.

No doubt the chicken wing wasn’t thrown out to keep his balance. He is a consummate headhunter. Ranger fans should be complaining that he cost them the game by not taking Palat out

What the Avalanche learned is that, if they don’t get it done, they may be gone. Sakic overhauled one-third of the roster after a league-high 82-point regular season and second-round exit. No free rides. No excuses. Now THAT’S how a real GM does it. #TheRightWay

if you listened to the announcer they said many time that the Rangers need to take out Kuch, Pally and Vasi (ferraro, Mcdonugh and Rosen), i was like seriously are not announcer supposed to be Neutral (even though they are all former NYR, did not hear Mess saying that). It does looks like Pally was aware of how dirty Trouba was that is a nice ducking job, I believe in the season Trouba actually did a head shot against Stammer and Point and #81 Cernack beat Troubas ass. Still pissed about that head shot on crosby.

When ESPN/TNT/Hulu bought into the NHL coverage I thought there was a chance the league would be influenced to tighten up player safety. Apparently the opposite is happening. Some network commentators are treating the games as a team version of UFC.

It’s a joke. Coverage has been terrible too. When Maroon/Reaves were jousting off a faceoff at the beginning of G4(?) and Reaves ended up taking his stick up into Maroon’s crotch… Cheli/Mess and all the other mutts were talking about “How come Reaves is the only one with the penalty? Let them fight!” blah blah blah. Garbage.

ESPN POS Ray Ferraro dismissed the Trouba knockout attempt as finishing his check. Remember, this is the same douche who shot a puck at the head of Lemieux in the 1993 playoffs. No penalty, of course. The Islanders were allowed to do anything and everything that series, which explains how an inferior team won it. #PlayoffHockeySucks

I Told my friends to look for someone to low bridge Trouba. If something doesn’t change, Knee on knee is next. Maybe a Shoresy
trifecta.

Jeez let it go already!! You are analyzing a NON situation. Your team lost the series because you weren’t good enough to beat the rangers, enough said, end of story. The whining about Trouba has to end, you look foolish and very apparent you have nothing else to write about
