Penguins First Half Report Cards: The Dominiks, Kahun & Simon

Pittsburgh Penguins Dominik Simon Dominik Kahun

They’re not twins, nor do they identify as from the same country despite being born in the same region. The Pittsburgh Penguins pair of Dominiks, Kahun and Simon, each have a similar stature at 5-foot-11, and each has a sneaky creative game that makes their lines better. However, they were on opposite wavelengths in the first half of the season.

Simon had a hot start. He had nine points in his first 13 games, while we wondered if Kahun fit with the Penguins.

Then Kahun got acclimated, and Sidney Crosby was injured, which took a bite out of Simon’s production. Kahun surged through November and December when paired with Evgeni Malkin. The overall numbers spiked.

More so, the eye tests did too.
