Pittsburgh Penguins game vs. New York Islanders

NEW YORK — The Pittsburgh Penguins (5-7-1) have won two straight as they embark on a three-game road trip through the heart of the Metro Division. The Penguins are in the middle of the Eastern Conference after the first 13 games, but optimism is percolating after a pair of home wins and competent defensive performances. They face the New York Islanders (4-6-2) at UBS Arena.

The puck drops just after 7:30 p.m. EST.

The Penguins clamped down on the Montreal Canadiens, and Sidney Crosby scored two goals again as the Penguins beat Montreal 3-1 on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena. It was Crosby’s second straight two-goal game. Until Blake Lizotte scored the empty netter on Saturday, Crosby had scored four consecutive Penguins goals.

Alex Nedeljkovic was again good in the clutch, stopping 25 of 26 shots. He improved his record to 2-2-1 with a .906 save percentage and 2.95 goals-against-average.

The banged-up Islanders were well short against the New York Rangers Sunday, losing 5-2. The Islanders lineup is currently without forwards Mathew Barzal and Anthony Duclair, as well as defensemen Adam Pelech, Alexander Romanov, and Mike Reilly. The Islanders recalled Isaiah George, who will make his NHL debut Tuesday and slot on the blue line in place of Romanov.
