UPDATED: PENGUINS GAME VS. RED WINGS POSTPONED
DETROIT– The Detroit Red Wings issued a statement late Saturday afternoon. The Pittsburgh Penguins preseason game vs. Detroit at Little Caesar’s Arena, which was originally scheduled to begin just after 7 p.m., was delayed until 8:30 p.m.
UPDATE: The game has been postponed. No rescheduling has been announced.
The Penguins’ travel delay on Saturday afternoon caused the cancellation. The Penguins were unable to make the original start time and then unable to make the rescheduled 8:30 p.m. start time.

The Penguins tweeted photos of players boarding the plane at 2:43 p.m. However, the flight tracker website FlightAware showed none of the flights from Pittsburgh International Airport had taken off by 6:50 p.m.
The Penguins subsequently released this statement:
“The Pittsburgh Penguins regret that we were not able to travel to Detroit this afternoon as planned for our game against the Red Wings. Continued mechanical issues with our team plane were not able to be rectified and despite great effort, there was no method to travel to Detroit safely.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to all fans, media, officials and the Red Wings who were already at Little Caesars Arena.”
The team plays the Ottawa Senators in the Kraft Hockeyville game on Sunday in Sudbury, Ontario, at 7 p.m.
Now you can make it up to Canada plenty of time to spare
I did not request access to the game. I’ll be headed back to Detroit on Monday.
Dan you could’ve drove the bus up there in five hours. To take one for the team. Yeah, you have to go up to Canada now
Shrewd move by Duby. Saved a few bucks and the embarrassment of a blowout loss.
