The Pittsburgh Penguins GM search is in its first days as the organization seeks permission to speak with employed persons across the NHL. Reports indicate they’ve received permission to speak with three so far. The Buffalo Sabres are the latest team to postpone games due to COVID, and PHN may have slightly offended Sidney Crosby.

It’s all in a day’s work, you know?

First, the Penguins. The TSN Insiders listed the three assistant GMs the Penguins have received permission to interview. We previously reported Colorado Avalanche AGM Chris MacFarland would be included, and he is. Chris Drury is now officially in, too (TSN Insiders)

It’s amazing how many inside people have gone radio silent during the resignation fallout and interview process.

When the Penguins seat a new GM, that person will eventually have a good problem: Too many LHDs. P-O Joseph’s arrival is exciting, and it provides a real Penguins trade chip (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

PHN may have slightly offended Sidney Crosby. Tip: Many “older players” are struggling to find their legs this season. Just don’t put Sid in that “older” category (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

Elliotte Friedman also had some interesting context on Jim Rutherford’s resignation in his 31 Thoughts (Sportsnet)

We’ve been trying to confirm a few details of the 24 hours leading up to the bombshell resignation. Nothing we can report yet, but Elliotte also hints at a few things in the same universe as we’ve heard informally.

The Buffalo Sabres are the latest team to postpone games. A pair of Buffalo players (Rasmus Ristolainen and Taylor Hall) tested positive after playing the New Jersey Devils, who have 14 players in protocols (Buffalo News)

After seeing Nathan MacKinnon’s new breakfast cereal, I KNOW you were dying to know if it was generic hell or awesome goodness. Adrian Dater made the trip to the store and has a full review (Colorado Hockey Now)

That’s why AD makes the big bucks!

David Pastrnak returned to the Boston Bruins lineup after offseason hip surgery. And the net was filled (Boston Hockey Now)

The New York Islanders joined the Pittsburgh Penguins as teams whose games were scrapped this week because opponents were in protocols. The teams will play each other Saturday, hopefully (NYI Hockey Now)

The Vegas Golden Knights WILL return to action on Saturday. Hopefully (Vegas Hockey Now)
