Molinari: Why Are Some Teams So Petty at Times? (+)

There’s no way of knowing whether Fenway Sports Group officials will make the best possible choice when settling on the next general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
If the correct selection was so obvious, the search would have ended quite a while ago and the new GM already would be immersed in the many tasks at hand.
Still, while the hunt for Ron Hextall’s successor has unfolded well outside of public view, it seems safe to believe that whoever gets the job will be qualified to handle it, based on the people known to be in contention.
But even though the field of capable candidates was quite large, at least in the beginning of the process, it actually could have been bigger.
