P-I-T-T-S-B-U-R-G-H is Back, Penguins Return to Iconic Third Jersey
Last season, the Pittsburgh Penguins used the diagonal text P-I-T-T-S-B-U-R-G-H on a white sweater for their reverse retro jersey. On Wednesday, the Penguins confirmed the rumors. They went all-in on retro as they returned to the original black sweater with yellow lettering that was the iconic jersey worn by Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr in the 1990s.
The team will wear the jersey 12 times this season, beginning on Dec. 11. In addition to the diagonal script, the jersey also includes the skating Penguin sans the traditional triangle on each shoulder.
In addition to the bevy of Penguins Hall of Famers who wore the jersey, it was also made famous by rapper Snoop Dogg in the Gin & Juice video.
The Penguins will wear the script for at least the next three seasons. The jersey will be available exclusively at PensGear and at www.pensgear.com from December 11-15.  Beginning Dec. 16th, the jersey will be available at DICK’S Sports Goods and other retail locations.
