The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed winger Jansen Harkins on waivers.

If he is not claimed by another club by Friday afternoon, they can assign him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre.

Harkins was claimed off waivers from Winnipeg on Oct. 2.

He has been used primarily on right wing of the No. 3 line, with Lars Eller and Drew O’Connor, but was shifted to the left side of the fourth line for part of the Penguins’ 6-3 loss in Detroit Wednesday night.

Harkins does not have a point in the Penguins’ first four games and has been averaging a team-low nine minutes, 28 seconds of ice time per game.
