Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jared McCann will not play in Game 2 due to an upper-body injury. The Penguins made the announcement after McCann was not on the ice for the warmups.

McCann was hit by Cal Clutterbuck in Game 1 but finished the game and practiced Thursday and took the morning skate Friday. However, Penguins forward Zach Aston-Reese will take McCann’s spot beside Evgeni Malkin on the Penguins second line. Rookie Teddy Blueger who was a healthy scratch for Game 1 will draw into the lineup for his first NHL playoff game.

This season, Blueger had 10 points (6g, 4a) in 28 games.

McCann had 17 points (11g, 6a) in 32 games after being acquired by the Penguins along with Nick Bjugstad from Florida on Feb. 1. Overall, McCann had 35 points (19g, 16a) in 78 games.

The Penguins also made a change on defense for Game 2. Defenseman Jack Johnson returned to the lineup and Olli Maatta who had a dismal Game 1 became a healthy scratch.
