You’ll probably forgive Penguins forward Jared McCann for using not safe for TV language. As one of the healthy Pittsburgh Penguins forwards, McCann has watched as his teammates have missed games and weeks. One by one the injuries have piled up to a level that has made even the determined and often stoic Mike Sullivan admit he’s never seen anything like it.
Saturday night, top-pairing defenseman Brian Dumoulin was again a casualty. Unlike his first injury this season which cost him less than two weeks, lacerated tendons presumably caused by a skate blade to the back of his ankle will keep Dumoulin out of the Penguins lineup for approximately eight weeks.
As PHN asked a few players the same question, the responses were similar. It’s tough to hide behind a cliche when things have reached ludicrous levels of bad luck. Some shook their heads with dark laughter or disbelief, while McCann summed up the situation succinctly.
